Voici un pas-à-pas sur la peinture du Croque-mort de Cadwallon.

The goblin travels through the hills near Cadwallon when he suddenly sees a rat on a skull, he stops and glowers at it meaning "Don't try to steal my job…".

Le gobelin est dans les collines situées près de Cadwallon quand tout à coup il aperçoit un rat sur un crâne, il s'arrête et jette un regard noir au rat d'un air de dire "N'essaie pas de me voler mon boulot...".

GW stands for Citadel Games Workshop paints.
VMC for Vallejo Model Color.

GW correspond aux peintures Citadel/Games Workshop.
PA aux peintures Prince-August.

The base is made with pieces of cork, I used miliput to fill the gaps. I apply PVA glue and sprinkle a mix of sand, gravels, flock to get something random so more natural.

Le socle est fait de morceaux de liège avec du miliput pour boucher les espaces. Je passe de la colle PVA et je saupoudre du sable fin ainsi qu'un mélange de sable, graviers, sciure, flocage pour obtenir quelque chose d'aléatoire et donc que ça paraisse plus naturel.

The base is undercoated in black and white, the mini with white only.

On commence par la sous-couche, noire puis quelques pchits de blanc sur le socle et blanche uniquement sur la figurine.

First the base.
I apply a coat of Stormvermin Fur (GW), it doesn't need to be perfect, it's a scenery, if it's random, it seems more natural.
This color is equivalent to the Charadon Granite (GW) given by the Citadel paint conversion chart but in fact it's lighter than Charadon Granite.

Je commence par la peinture du socle.
Il reçoit une couche de Stormvermin Fur (GW), inutile que la couche soit parfaitement homogène, c'est décor, plus c'est aléatoire, plus c'est naturel.
Cette couleur est l'équivalente du Charadon Granite (GW) selon le tableau de correspondance fourni par Games Workshop mais en fait elle est bien plus claire.

While the paint isn't dry I apply Charadon Granite (GW) on the shadows.

Tant que la peinture est fraîche je passe du Charadon Granite (GW) dans les ombres.

I add some black in the Charadon Granite.

Je continue en rajoutant du noir dans le Charadon Granite.

I begin the highlights adding Codex Grey (GW) to the base color.

J'éclaircis la roche en rajoutant du Codex Grey (GW) à la couleur de base.

And adding Kommando Khaki (GW) to the mix.

Je continue en rajoutant de Kommando Khaki (GW) au mélange.

To finish the highlights I add Spacewolf Grey (GW) in the mix and then I paint some dots using pure Ivory (VMC).

I create some grass/moss zones using washes of Catachan Green (GW).

I add some shades of Oxford Blue (VMC) in the shadows.

The skull and bone are based using Bleached Bone (GW).

For the shadows I add Codex Grey (GW) in the base.

Then I add a bit of black.

Puis je rajoute un peu de noir.

I apply again some base color to smooth the transitions then I highlight adding Ivory (VMC) and I finish with dots of pure Ivory.

I'll paint the rat and finish the base when the miniature will be finished.
Now let's work on the coffin.
I begin with Charadon Granite (GW).

J'ai laissé le rat de côté pour l'instant, je reviendrai de toute façon travailler le socle quand la figurine sera finie.
Ensuite c'est au tour du cercueil.
Je commence par le baser avec du Charadon Granite (GW).

Next I apply some washes of Catachan Green (GW) and black to mark the wood grain.

Je passe quelques lavis de Catachan Green (GW) et noir mélangés afin de bien marquer les veines du bois.

I begin the highlights on the wood adding Codex Grey (GW) in the base color, again I don't do a smooth work, I draw more wood texture with this color.

Je commence à éclaircir le bois en ajoutant du Codex Grey (GW) dans ma base, je ne fais pas un travail lisse, je vais en profiter pour dessiner de nouvelles veines.

Then I highlight with a mix of Fortress Grey (GW) and Kommando Khaki (GW).

Je continues les éclaircies avec un mélange de Fortress Grey (GW) et Kommando Khaki (GW).

Then pure Kommando Khaki (GW).

Je passe au Kommando Khaki (GW) pur.

I finish with a mix of Kommando Khaki and Spacewolf Grey (GW). I use this mix to highlight the edges.

I apply some glazes of English Uniform (VMC) to add some variations in the wood.

I add glazes of Catachan Green (GW), Dark Angel Green (GW) and black mixed to create moss and mildew stains on the wood.

Now the ropes, base with a mix of English Uniform (VMC) and Chocolate Brown (VMC).

I highlight with Graveyard Earth (GW) and Kommando Khahi (GW).

The coat, the hat and the raven are based using a mix of black and Shadow Grey (GW).

I highlight adding Codex Grey (GW) in the base color, I don't make it smoothly because I want to render an old and worn texture on the clothes.

J'éclaircis en rajoutant du Codex Grey (GW) dans ma couleur de base, je ne l'applique pas de manière très lisse car je veux donner un aspect usé aux vêtements.

I add Fortress Grey (GW) in the mix, I apply the paint using a sponge or blister foam to render the texture.

I make some highlights using a mix of Fortress Gray (GW) and Spacewolg Grey (GW) still using a sponge.

And I finish with pure Spacewolf Grey (GW).

I apply some glazes of the base mix (noir + Shadow Grey (GW)) on the transitions to the shadows.

Next : the face.
I reach my limits in making a step by step because I concentrate on my painting and I forgot to take pictures between each steps.
I base the face using Dwarf Flesh (GW).

And I add Shadow Grey (GW).

Then I apply glazes of a mix of Dark Sea Blue (VMC), Light Turquoise (VMC) and Rotting Flesh (GW).
I make the shadows using Shadow Grey (GW).
And highlights using Spacewolf Grey (GW) then Rotting Flesh (GW) and then Ivory (VMC).

I smooth the transitions with some glazes.

I add some glazes of Scab Red (GW) around the mouth and the base of the ears.
I apply glazes of Shadow Grey (GW) on the ears, then Light Turquoise (VMC) to the top.

And I highlight using Rotting Flesh (GW).
The iris/pupils will be painted in black after gluing the goblin on its base so it will be easy to make it look at the rat.

The fabric strip around the hat is base with Snakebite Leather (GW).

Metallic parts are painted using the non metallic metal technique with a base of Shadow Grey (GW), shadows using black, highlights using white and glazes of Fortress Grey (GW).
